Bundesweiter Härtefallfonds: IKEA supports SED victims with six million euros
IKEA is providing six million euros to the nationwide hardship fund for victims of the former East German communist regime (SED).
The money will be used to support victims who have not yet received adequate compensation for the injustices they suffered under the SED dictatorship.
The donation is part of IKEA's commitment to social responsibility and its recognition of the importance of addressing the legacy of the SED regime.
The nationwide hardship fund was established in 2021 by the German government to provide financial assistance to victims of the SED regime who have not received adequate compensation through other means.
The fund is administered by the Federal Office for Administrative Justice (BVA) and provides one-time payments of up to 10,000 euros to eligible victims.
To be eligible for compensation from the hardship fund, victims must meet certain criteria, such as having been imprisoned or detained by the SED regime, having been subjected to forced labor, or having been denied educational or professional opportunities due to their political beliefs.
IKEA's donation to the hardship fund is a significant contribution to the effort to provide justice and compensation to victims of the SED regime.
The donation will help to ensure that more victims receive the support they need to overcome the challenges they have faced as a result of the injustices they suffered.
The donation is also a reminder of the importance of remembering the victims of communist dictatorship and fighting against all forms of oppression.
