Dustin Hoffman Remembers Teri Garr: “There Was Nobody Like Her”
Dustin Hoffman shared his memories of actress Teri Garr, who died on Saturday at age 80.
She was an 'extraordinary' friend
In a statement provided to CNN, Hoffman characterized Teri Garr as an "extraordinary person and friend" with a "heart of gold". He also commended her resilience, saying "Her strength and humor were inspiring to all who knew her".
Hoffman and Garr starred together in the 1979 comedy “Tootsie”, in which Garr played a soap opera actress who befriends a struggling actor played by Hoffman.
They also starred in the 1982 drama “Tootsie”, in which they played husband and wife.
She had a 'unique' talent
In his statement, Hoffman said that Garr had a "unique" talent. He described her as "a gifted comedienne, a talented dancer, and a wonderful actress".
Garr was nominated for two Academy Awards for her supporting roles in the 1982 drama “Tootsie” and the 1984 comedy “Mr. Mom”.
She will be 'deeply missed'
Hoffman concluded his statement by saying that Garr will be "deeply missed".
"The world has lost a great talent and a wonderful friend," he said.
Garr died on Saturday at her home in Los Angeles after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.
