Kolkata Giants Secure Dominant Victory in Dhaka
In a thrilling encounter at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka, East Bengal FC produced a dominant performance to defeat Bashundhara Kings 4-0 in the AFC Challenge League. The victory ensured East Bengal's progression to the next round, while Bashundhara Kings were eliminated from the competition.
First Half Dominance for East Bengal
East Bengal started the match brightly and took control of possession early on. Their attacking trio of Cleiton Silva, VP Suhair, and Ivan Gonzalez caused constant problems for the Bashundhara Kings defense. In the 15th minute, Silva opened the scoring with a clinical finish to give East Bengal the lead.
Second Half Onslaught
After the break, East Bengal continued their dominance and doubled their advantage in the 55th minute through Gonzalez. The Uruguayan forward latched onto a through ball from Suhair and slotted the ball past the Bashundhara Kings goalkeeper.
Suhair then got on the scoresheet himself in the 65th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error to make it 3-0. East Bengal sealed the victory in the 80th minute when Silva scored his second goal of the match, completing a comfortable 4-0 win.
East Bengal Advance, Bashundhara Kings Knocked Out
With this victory, East Bengal FC have secured their place in the next round of the AFC Challenge League. They will now face either Abahani Limited Dhaka or Gokulam Kerala FC in the semi-finals.
Bashundhara Kings, on the other hand, have been eliminated from the competition after failing to pick up a single point in their three group stage matches.
