Black Hawks narrowly miss out on a win in their first home game
EHF Passau Black Hawks are defeated by SC Riessersee in a hard-fought game
A narrow defeat for the Black Hawks, who were unfortunate not to get at least a point from the game
Passau Black Hawks celebrated their home premiere in front of 1,250 spectators on Friday evening, and the atmosphere was excellent. However, the joy over the return to Passau's Eisarena was short-lived. Despite a strong performance, the Black Hawks lost narrowly to SC Riessersee with 2:3.
In the first third, the Hawks started with a lot of pressure. They had more of the game and more shots on goal, but they were unable to score. Riessersee was able to take the lead with a deflected shot in the 13th minute.
The second third was more balanced. Both teams had chances to score, but the goalkeepers on both sides were able to keep their nets clean. In the 32nd minute, however, Riessersee was able to increase their lead to 2:0.
In the final third, the Black Hawks threw everything forward and were rewarded for their efforts in the 48th minute when they made it 1:2. Just three minutes later, the Hawks even managed to equalize when they scored their second goal. In the end, however, it was Riessersee who had the last laugh, scoring the winning goal in the 57th minute.
Despite the defeat, the Black Hawks showed a strong performance and were unlucky not to get at least a point from the game. Next, the Black Hawks will host EC Peiting this coming Tuesday.
