Farmers Find Earthen Pot Filled With Silver Coins
A valuable discovery was made in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district.
Three farmers stumbled upon an earthen pot buried underground in their field while digging. Inside, they found 22 silver coins, some of which had the names of Mughal emperors such as Shah Jahan and Mohammad Shah inscribed on them. The coins are estimated to be 200 to 300 years old.
The farmers, identified as Mohammad Salim, Mohammad Shakir and Gulsher, were working in their field when they hit something hard with their spade. They dug further and found the earthen pot.
The coins have been handed over to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for further examination. The ASI will determine the exact age and value of the coins.
The discovery has excited villagers and history enthusiasts alike. It is believed that the coins may have been hidden during a time of war or turmoil.
ASI officials said that the coins are a valuable addition to the history of the region. They said that the coins will be studied and preserved for future generations.
