The RTL Zwei documentary soap "Hartz und herzlich" has been providing insights into the everyday life of Hartz IV recipients in various German cities for years. Now the cameras are also rolling in Trier.

The new episodes will be broadcast from July 4, 2023, always on Tuesdays at 8:15 p.m. on RTL Zwei. The focus is on the lives of six Trier residents who have to live on Hartz IV.

Among them is the 50-year-old single mother Yvonne, who has been unemployed for eight years and has to support her two children on 400 euros a month. Or the 32-year-old Daniel, who has been addicted to heroin for 15 years and is now trying to get his life back on track.

"Hartz und herzlich" shows the everyday struggles of the protagonists, but also their strength and resilience. The series has been praised by critics for its authentic portrayal of life on the fringes of society.
