Indian women’s cricket team spitfire Mithali Raj quits
Mithali Raj ruled out of England tour due to injury
39-year-old Raj hasn’t retired from international cricket yet
Indian women’s cricket team’s ODI captain Mithali Raj has been ruled out of England tour beginning from June 27 due to an injury.
Mithali Raj suffered an injury during an ODI match against South Africa in Lucknow earlier this year. She hasn’t played any cricket since then.
The BCCI medical team has advised Mithali Raj to take rest for at least four weeks, which rules her out of the England tour. She is expected to be fit for the ODI World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in New Zealand in March-April 2022.
Mithali Raj is one of the most successful captains in the history of women’s cricket. She has led India to two World Cup finals and three Asia Cup titles.
In her absence, Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Indian team on the England tour. Kaur has been in good form in recent matches and will be looking to continue her good run.
The Indian team will play three ODIs and three T20Is on their England tour. The tour will begin with the first ODI on June 27.
Mithali Raj’s injury is a big blow to the Indian team. She is a key player and her experience will be missed. However, the team has enough depth to cope with her absence. Harmanpreet Kaur is a capable captain and she will be looking to lead the team to victory on the England tour.
