Leicester Crash to Home Defeat to Nottingham Forest
Leicester City's winless start to the Premier League season continued on Saturday afternoon, a 3-1 home defeat to Nottingham Forest leaving them rock bottom of the table.
Brennan Johnson, Taiwo Awoniyi and Morgan Gibbs-White were all on target for Steve Cooper's side, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall replying for the Foxes.
Leicester have now lost their opening nine matches of the campaign, equaling the club's worst start to a top-flight season, set in 1983/84, which was followed by relegation from the old First Division.
Brendan Rodgers' men have failed to score in six of those matches, and have conceded 22 goals, more than any other team in the division.
Forest, meanwhile, have made a solid start to their first Premier League campaign since 1999, and now sit eighth in the table after winning four of their opening nine matches.
Cooper's side took the lead in the 23rd minute when Johnson latched onto a through ball from Gibbs-White and fired past Danny Ward.
Awoniyi doubled Forest's lead in the 45th minute, heading home a free kick from Neco Williams.
Gibbs-White made it 3-0 in the 56th minute, finishing off a counter-attack led by Johnson.
Dewsbury-Hall pulled one back for Leicester in the 82nd minute, but it was too little, too late for the Foxes.
Rodgers admitted after the match that Leicester are in a "difficult moment".
"We're not getting the rub of the green at the moment, but we need to keep working hard and keep believing," he said.
Cooper was delighted with his side's performance.
"We were excellent today," he said. "We played with great intensity and quality, and we deserved the win."
Forest will be looking to continue their good form when they host Fulham next Saturday, while Leicester will be hoping to get their first points of the season when they travel to Crystal Palace.
