NÖM Embargo: 170 Viennese Spar Markets Defy Milk Product Delivery Stop
Spar defies delivery stop and supplies 170 Viennese branches with NÖM products
Despite the NÖM embargo, 170 Viennese Spar branches continue to be supplied with NÖM products. The delivery stop, which has been in place since Monday, has so far had no impact on the availability of NÖM products in Spar branches in Vienna. This is ensured by a special delivery concept that Spar has set up for this purpose.
NÖM embargo: No milk, butter, or yoghurt from NÖM at Rewe
In contrast to Spar, the Rewe Group has decided to stop selling NÖM products in its around 2,500 stores nationwide. This means that there will be no milk, butter, or yoghurt from NÖM at Rewe, Billa, and Penny Markt for the time being. Rewe justified this step by saying that it could not accept NÖM's price increases. NÖM, on the other hand, accused Rewe of using the embargo to put pressure on the company in price negotiations.
Background to the NÖM embargo
The background to the NÖM embargo is a price dispute between NÖM and the Rewe Group. NÖM had demanded a price increase from Rewe, which Rewe was not willing to accept. As a result, Rewe stopped ordering NÖM products from Monday. NÖM then reacted by stopping deliveries to all Rewe stores in Austria.
Consequences of the NÖM embargo
The NÖM embargo has various consequences for consumers, retailers, and NÖM itself. Consumers may have to do without NÖM products or switch to other brands. Retailers such as Spar and Rewe are faced with the challenge of finding alternative suppliers or adjusting their product range. NÖM itself loses sales and could suffer financial losses as a result of the embargo.
Outlook for the NÖM embargo
It is unclear how long the NÖM embargo will last. It is possible that the two sides will reach an agreement in the coming days or weeks. However, it is also possible that the embargo will continue or even escalate. The outcome of the price negotiations between NÖM and Rewe will be decisive in this regard.
