POL-HAM: Collision between Audi and van, Audi driver slightly injured

On Thursday afternoon at around 4:30 p.m., an Audi A3 and a Ford Transit van collided on the Paderborn-Salzkotten section of the B1 federal highway. The Audi driver was slightly injured in the accident.

The course of the accident

According to initial findings, the 52-year-old Audi driver was driving her car towards Salzkotten. For reasons still unknown, she swerved into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with the van driven by a 32-year-old man.

The impact of the collision was so strong that both vehicles were badly damaged and had to be towed away by a towing service.

Injuries and damage

The 52-year-old Audi driver sustained minor injuries in the accident and was taken to hospital for treatment. The 32-year-old van driver was unharmed.

The damage to both vehicles is estimated at around 25,000 euros.

The cause of the accident is still unclear and is the subject of ongoing investigations by the police.

Traffic obstruction

Due to the accident, the B1 federal highway was completely closed between the Schloß Neuhaus and Mantinghausen junctions for about two hours. A diversion was set up.
