RB Leipzig changes starting lineup for DFB Cup clash against St. Pauli
Lineup changes for Rose's side
RB Leipzig head coach Marco Rose has made several changes to his starting lineup for the DFB Cup second round clash against FC St. Pauli on Saturday, with several key players rested ahead of the upcoming Bundesliga match against Bayern Munich.
Key players rested
Among those missing from the starting lineup are goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi, defender Willi Orban, and midfielder Konrad Laimer. Gulacsi and Orban have been struggling with minor injuries, while Laimer is suspended for the match.
New faces in the lineup
In their place, Rose has handed starts to Janis Blaswich in goal, Abdou Diallo in defense, and Dominik Szoboszlai in midfield. Blaswich has been in good form for Leipzig in the DFB Cup this season, while Diallo and Szoboszlai will be looking to make an impact in their first starts of the campaign.
Other changes
There are also a few other changes to the lineup, with Emil Forsberg replacing Dani Olmo on the wing and Andre Silva starting up front in place of Yussuf Poulsen. Forsberg has been in good form for Leipzig in recent weeks, while Silva will be looking to add to his tally of four goals in the DFB Cup this season.
Leipzig looking to avoid upset
Leipzig will be looking to avoid an upset against St. Pauli, who are currently third in the 2. Bundesliga. The two sides have met twice in the DFB Cup before, with Leipzig winning both matches. However, St. Pauli will be looking to make a statement against their Bundesliga opponents and reach the third round of the competition.
