Schick Doppelpack: Bayern Munich Dominates, Advances to German Cup Round of 16
Patrik Schick Scores Twice as Bayern Munich Cruises Past Augsburg
Patrik Schick's double helped Bayern Munich cruise into the German Cup round of 16 on Wednesday, with a comfortable 5-2 victory over Augsburg. The Czech striker opened the scoring in the 19th minute, heading in from close range after a pinpoint cross from Alphonso Davies.
Musiala, Gnabry, and Tel Also on Target for Bayern
Jamal Musiala doubled Bayern's lead just five minutes later, finishing off a slick passing move involving Thomas Müller and Leroy Sané. Serge Gnabry extended the advantage in the 27th minute, tapping the ball in from close range after a low cross from Joshua Kimmich.
Bayern continued to dominate after the break, with teenager Mathys Tel adding a fourth in the 74th minute. The visitors pulled two goals back through Fredrik Jensen and Ermedin Demirovic, but Schick's second goal in the 85th minute sealed a convincing win for the German giants.
Bayern's Dominance Continues
Bayern's victory extends their unbeaten run in all competitions to seven games. The German champions have now won five of their last six matches, scoring 20 goals in the process. They will be confident of continuing their strong form when they face Union Berlin in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
Augsburg, meanwhile, will be disappointed with the defeat. The Bavarians have now lost their last three matches and will need to improve their form if they are to avoid relegation from the Bundesliga this season.
