Schweinsteiger rips into BVB after cup exit: 'Too little, too late'
Former Germany international Bastian Schweinsteiger has slammed Borussia Dortmund for their performance in their DFB-Pokal exit to second division St. Pauli.
The eight-time Bundesliga champions were dumped out of the competition at the quarter-final stage on Tuesday after a 2-1 defeat to the 2. Bundesliga side.
Speaking on ARD after the match, Schweinsteiger said: "That was too little, too late from Dortmund. They didn't play with enough intensity or passion. They were second best all over the pitch.
'Dortmund need to take a long hard look at themselves'
The 2014 World Cup winner added: "Dortmund need to take a long hard look at themselves after this performance. They are a big club with big ambitions, but they are not playing like one at the moment.
'St. Pauli deserved the win'
Schweinsteiger also praised St. Pauli for their performance, saying: "St. Pauli deserved the win. They were the better team on the day. They played with more heart and desire than Dortmund.
