Fürth Takes Early Lead
Fürth, also a 2. Bundesliga team, took an early lead in the match when Branimir Hrgota scored in the 10th minute. However, Regensburg equalized just six minutes later through Sarpreet Singh.
Regensburg Dominates Second Half
Regensburg took control of the match in the second half and scored two goals in quick succession. Erik Wekesser put Regensburg ahead in the 55th minute, and Prince Osei Owusu extended the lead just four minutes later.
Fürth Fights Back
Fürth pulled one back in the 75th minute through Cedric Itten, but it was not enough to prevent Regensburg from advancing to the quarterfinals.
Regensburg's Impressive Cup Run
Regensburg's victory over Fürth is their third win over a Bundesliga side in this season's DFB-Pokal. They previously defeated Werder Bremen and Fortuna Düsseldorf.
