Thomas Gottschalk moderates the comeback of "Wetten, dass..?" in Offenburg
The cult show returns to television at the end of the year - with a new set and a new studio audience
After a six-year break, "Wetten, dass..?" is finally making a comeback. Thomas Gottschalk will be back to moderate the cult ZDF show at the end of the year.
"I'm really looking forward to returning to 'Wetten, dass..?' and being reunited with the audience in the studio," Gottschalk said in a statement. "We have a great show planned, with exciting bets and great guests. I can't wait to get back on stage."
The first show of the new season will be broadcast live from Offenburg on 6 November. The show will feature a new set and a new studio audience, but the basic concept will remain the same.
"'Wetten, dass..?' is a show that brings people together," said ZDF program director Jörg Pilawa. "It's a show about dreams, about courage and about overcoming obstacles. We want to continue this tradition with the new season."
Gottschalk moderated "Wetten, dass..?" from 1987 to 2011. The show was one of the most popular television shows in Germany, with an average audience of over 10 million viewers.
The show was canceled in 2011 after Gottschalk announced that he was stepping down as moderator. However, ZDF has been planning a comeback for "Wetten, dass..?" for several years.
The return of "Wetten, dass..?" is sure to be a major event for German television. Gottschalk is one of the most popular entertainers in the country, and the show has a large and loyal fan base.
With a new set, a new studio audience, and a new format, "Wetten, dass..?" is sure to be back with a bang.
