Borussia Dortmund booked their spot in the quarterfinals of the DFB-Pokal with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over VfL Wolfsburg on Tuesday.

The hosts took the lead in the 33rd minute through midfielder Salih Özcan, who pounced on a loose ball in the Wolfsburg penalty area and fired it into the net.

Dortmund doubled their advantage in the 80th minute when Karim Adeyemi latched onto a through ball from Julian Brandt and slotted it past Wolfsburg goalkeeper Koen Casteels.

Dortmund Continue Impressive Form

The victory extends Dortmund's unbeaten run to seven matches in all competitions and keeps them in contention for a top-four finish in the Bundesliga and a place in next season's UEFA Champions League.

Wolfsburg, meanwhile, have now lost three of their last four matches and will need to improve their form if they are to challenge for a European spot this season.

Özcan Hailed for Winning Goal

Özcan was named man of the match for his performance against Wolfsburg, with Dortmund coach Edin Terzić praising the 24-year-old for his energy and determination.

"He played a great game today," said Terzić. "He was everywhere on the pitch and he scored a very important goal for us.

Özcan's goal was his second for Dortmund since joining the club from 1. FC Köln in the summer.
