DFB-Pokal: Leipzig, Augsburg, Leverkusen, and Karlsruhe advance
Leipzig cruises past Sandhausen, Augsburg edges past Nürnberg
RB Leipzig kicked off the second round of the DFB-Pokal with a convincing 4-0 victory over SV Sandhausen. Christopher Nkunku opened the scoring in the 15th minute, and Dani Olmo doubled the lead just before halftime. André Silva added a third goal in the 61st minute, and Benjamin Henrichs completed the scoring in the 80th minute.
FC Augsburg also advanced to the third round with a narrow 2-1 victory over 1. FC Nürnberg. Fredrik Jensen gave Augsburg the lead in the 25th minute, but Kwadwo Duah equalized for Nürnberg in the 38th minute. Ruben Vargas scored the winning goal for Augsburg in the 58th minute.
Leverkusen and Karlsruhe secure victories
Bayer Leverkusen also booked their place in the third round with a 3-1 victory over SV Elversberg. Patrik Schick opened the scoring for Leverkusen in the 10th minute, and Moussa Diaby doubled the lead in the 43rd minute. Elversberg pulled one back through Kevin Koffi in the 54th minute, but Leverkusen sealed the victory through Nadiem Amiri in the 77th minute.
Karlsruher SC completed the list of teams to advance to the third round with a 2-0 victory over FC Viktoria Köln. Malik Batmaz gave Karlsruhe the lead in the 38th minute, and Fabian Schleusener doubled the lead in the 55th minute.
Upcoming third-round fixtures
The draw for the third round of the DFB-Pokal will be held on Sunday, October 23. The matches will be played on the weekend of November 18-20.
The remaining fixtures for the second round will be played on Tuesday, October 18 and Wednesday, October 19.
