Despite the bitter cup knockout against FC St. Pauli, Borussia Dortmund's sporting director Sebastian Kehl has given coach Edin Terzic and his team his backing. "We're not going to question everything now. We're standing by our team, by our coach," Kehl said on Tuesday evening after the 2-1 defeat in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup. With a view to the disappointing performance of his team, Kehl said: "Of course we're disappointed today. We didn't live up to our own expectations. We lacked determination and greed."
Nevertheless, Kehl emphasized the achievements of the team in recent months. "Let's not forget what this team has achieved in recent months. We have to pick ourselves up and move on," said the 43-year-old. Kehl also appealed to the fans: "We need our fans now. We need their support. We're going through this together."
With a view to the upcoming Bundesliga game against SC Freiburg on Saturday, Kehl said: "We have to show a reaction now. We have to get back on track and win the game in Freiburg."
