SSV Jahn Regensburg sends a sign of life in the DFB Cup
Regensburg wins against 1860 Munich
SSV Jahn Regensburg has surprisingly reached the second round of the DFB Cup. The second division team won 3-0 (1-0) at third division TSV 1860 Munich on Tuesday evening.
In front of 15,000 spectators in the sold-out Grünwalder Stadion, Andreas Albers (2nd), Oscar Schönfelder (51st) and Prince Osei Owusu (87th) scored the goals for the guests. The lions, who had previously thrown Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach out of the competition, missed numerous chances and were ultimately deservedly eliminated.
After the final whistle, Regensburg's players and coaching staff celebrated exuberantly in front of the traveling fans. For the club, which is currently only 15th in the 2nd Bundesliga, it was an important success that gives hope for the rest of the season.
The Lions, on the other hand, were disappointed. After the cup exit, the focus is now fully on the league, in which 1860 is currently third.
